The New York Yankees have some massive free agency decisions to make during the offseason, most notably with outfielder Cody Bellinger. Bellinger has the opportunity to be a significant part of the long-term future in New York, but that doesn't mean the organization doesn't have some other decisions to make.
Among the other decisions the Yankees have to make, Luke Weaver is at the top of the list. The Yankees found a diamond in the rough with Weaver and can only hope that he'll take a discounted deal for free agency.
The question for Weaver will be centered around whether he wants to get paid as much as possible or return to New York, an awesome place to play with a historic franchise.
Luke Weaver makes free agent stance clear
When speaking on “The Show” podcast, Weaver said that he wanted to stay in New York, adding that it's a great place to play.
"Yeah, absolutely," Weaver said. "It's a place where you feel like, they always say, you pitch here, you can pitch anywhere. ... That simply has truth to it."

How Weaver throws in the postseason will likely have a significant impact on what the Yankees want to do with him in the future. He hasn't been as great as he's been for much of his career over the past few weeks, posting a 3.90 ERA. Unfortunately, his ERA has increased from 2.72 at the start of the month to 3.90 as of Sept. 18.
While he hasn't thrown the baseball that well recently, it's also fair to suggest that he's been great over the past year and a half, posting a 2.89 ERA a year ago with a 0.93 WHIP.
New York should value that.
