The New York Yankees signed a free agent on Monday who plays first base, outfield and has a last name starting with a B.
It's not Cody Bellinger, though, who remains out there seeking big money from a list of suitors that appears to include the Yankees, Mets and Blue Jays.
Nope, the new signing is Seth Brown.
Brown has signed a minor-league deal with the Yankees that will likely include an invite to spring training, according to Aram Leighton.
Brown is 33 and both bats and throws left-handed.

He has been with the Athletics his whole career.
In 2025, Brown was healthy for just 38 games and hit only.185.
In his career, he has a.712 OPS.
Brown's best season was 2022, when he batted.230 with 26 doubles, 25 home runs and 11 steals.
In 2025, Brown got playing time in all three of left field, right field and centerfield.
He played a lot of first base in 2024, so that's all in the possible picture for Brown with the Yanks.
He's not likely a favorite to make the Opening Day roster, especially if Bellinger still re-signs.
But as a veteran who knows what it's like to play in the majors at a variety of positions, Brown is a decent enough depth signing.
And now Yanks fans wait to see if Bellinger is coming back.
