Yankees reportedly still favorites to land Cody Bellinger, despite Trent Grisham's deal image

While Trent Grisham signing his qualifying offer might be bad news for the New York Yankees in some sense if they want to keep Cody Bellinger in town, others don't see it as much of an issue.

According to the latest from Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the Yankees are still the favorite to land Bellinger, barring something happening in the near future.

“The Yankees and Bellinger were a perfect match, and a reunion here makes sense for both parties. Yankee Stadium is built perfectly for his swing, evidenced by Bellinger’s.912 career OPS in the Bronx, and his positional versatility gives manager Aaron Boone lineup options. New York is the clear favorite to sign Bellinger,” he wrote.

What it means for others on the Yankees

After somewhat reviving his career with the Chicago Cubs over the past few seasons, Bellinger was traded to the Yankees in a deal that made sense for both sides.

As the Yankees approach the remainder of the offseason, it's important to remember what other factors Bellinger can bring to the team, whether they’re positive or negative.

On the surface, most of those are positive.

However, with the Yankees' young talent, mainly with Jasson Dominguez and Spencer Jones, it's also fair to question whether, if the Yankees were to re-sign Bellinger, one or both of them would have to be traded.

The Yankees' outfield would be set, unless the front office wants to go in a different direction with Bellinger.

That's obviously the more important question that has to be asked right now, as the Yankees could use both of those guys as trade bait to move in deals to improve in areas of need.
