The “Stro-show” is no longer in the Bronx.
The New York Yankees have announced the release of two-time All-Star starting pitcher Marcus Stroman on Friday.
Stroman, 34, pitched Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays and threw five innings, allowing four runs on six hits. He recorded the win.
He is 3-2 with a 6.23 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP in nine starts this season.
Stroman struggled to get going this year. He has dealt with injuries and didn’t look good in his rehab starts. Yesterday’s game was the final straw for New York.
Stroman has had a solid career thus far and will probably sign a minor league contract with a team that needs pitching at some point.

Stroman has appeared in 270 Major League Baseball games, starting 261 of them. He is 90-87 with a 3.79 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP in his up-and-down career.
Stroman was a star with the Toronto Blue Jays for parts of six seasons and then was traded to the New York Mets.
He opted out of pitching in the 2020 COVID-shortened season. He pitched well with the Mets in 2021.
He was good in his first season with the Chicago Cubs and then was an All-Star in his second season with the team in 2023.
Since he left Chicago, it’s been an uphill battle for Stroman. He wasn’t horrible in his first season and was actually healthy.
But when the team approached him with the potential idea of putting him in the bullpen, he refused, claiming he’s a starter.
The relationship began to deteriorate from there. Stroman had a rocky start to this season and has now been released.
