The New York Yankees are currently 41-25 and have a four-game lead in the American League East.

New York will certainly look to add pitching depth at the trade deadline and have been linked to several players.

The latest being former All-Star starting pitcher Zac Gallen from the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Major League Baseball insider Jon Heyman named Gallen a fit for the Yankees if Arizona sells at the deadline.

“I think Gallen would be a good fit for the Yankees,” Heyman said. “I know he hasn’t been great this year but he’s a New Jersey guy.”

Gallen, 29, is currently having the worst season of his career but could find new life on a division-leading team like the Yankees.

Gallen is 4-8 with a 5.15 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP in 14 starts this season. He leads MLB in walks.

Arizona’s ace has been much better in June, potentially building his trade value if the Diamondbacks end up unloading at the end of July.

In two June starts, Gallen has pitched into the seventh inning both times and is 1-1 with a 3.29 ERA.

He has been plagued by the home run ball, allowing 14 on the season and three in his last start versus the Cincinnati Reds.

The Yankees would be getting one of the top pitching talents in baseball and could get him back to All-Star form in the Bronx.
