Yankees named trade fit for career 294-home run slugger image

The New York Yankees enter June 10 with a four-game lead in the American League East.

They are 39-25 even with Gerrit Cole out for the year and Giancarlo Stanton yet to make his season debut.

Still, the Yankees could be active at the trade deadline, and Bradford Doolittle of ESPN gave an interesting trade target: Arizona Diamondbacks slugger Eugenio Suarez.

"They need more pitching for sure, though the Yankees have done a great job of piecing things together so far. A more impactful pickup might come from a power bat for third base, with Arizona's Eugenio Suarez leaping to mind as an ideal fit."

Suarez has 294 home runs in his career and hit 30 home runs with 101 RBI in 2024, so he can still swing the bat at a high level.

Suarez has played for the Detroit Tigers, Cincinnati Reds, Seattle Mariners and now the Diamondbacks in his career.

However, Arizona is below .500 and is a tough division with the San Francisco Giants, San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers all ahead of them.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. has been the Yankees' primary third baseman, but he is hitting just .214 with nine home runs and 24 RBI in a bit of a sluggish start.

Only time will tell if the Yankees make some moves, but this could be an option to add some power to the lineup.
