The New York Yankees, of course, already have a 6-foot-7 slugging outfielder at the MLB level.

And now, they've got one just a single step away.

The Yankees have promoted Spencer Jones to Triple-A, according to SNY's Andy Martino.

Jones, a former first-round pick out of Vanderbilt, was on fire in June, with seven homers and an OPS over 1.000 at Double-A Somerset.

He had 16 homers on the season before his promotion.

Jones isn't Judge. He's lefty, for starters.

Strikeouts are a bit of a concern for Jones after he struck out 200 times last season in 124 Double-A games. The Yankees sent him to repeat Double-A this season as a 24-year old, and so far, his strikeout rate is down, his walk rate is up and he's hitting for more power.

Jones also has 10 steals in 12 attempts after going 25-for-34 swiping bags last season.

The big lefty will have to prove himself at Triple-A. If his adjustment period to Double-A was any indication, it may take him a while to get comfortable.

But is there a chance Jones and Judge could eventually patrol the same outfield at Yankee Stadium? Definitely. And that's pretty cool.
