The New York Yankees certainly don't want to be thinking about salary arbitration yet.
But their backs are against the wall in the ALDS against the Toronto Blue Jays. Potentially very soon, offseason decisions will be the next thing on the Yankees' to-do list.
And two of those decisions will involve Jazz Chisholm and Anthony Volpe.
The standout middle infield pairing is heading to salary arbitration this offseason. They'll both still be under contract with the Yanks in 2026, but their exact salaries will be determined later in the offseason by this process.
MLB Trade Rumors uses an algorithm to project arbitration salary values, and they released those projections this week.

Chisholm is projected to earn $10.2 million in salary arbitration, this being his final year of the process.
Volpe is projected for $3.9 million in his first year going through arbitration.
They are far from the only two Yanks heading for arbitration, but they're the two names with the most star power.
Maybe the next most notable is Luis Gil, who is projected for $2.1 million.
Others heading to arbitration are David Bednar, Mark Leiter, Clarke Schmidt, Camilo Doval, Jake Cousins, Ian Hamilton, Scott Effross, Jake Bird, Oswaldo Cabrera, Fernando Cruz and Jose Caballero.
Given the importance of Chisholm to the Yankees, and that he's entering the final year of his contract, it might make sense for the Yanks to talk a longer-term extension with him.
But they'll be hoping those conversations can wait a little longer. At least right now, there's still baseball to be played in the Bronx.
