The New York Yankees are down an infielder.
They announced Friday night that Pablo Reyes is no longer with the organization.
Reyes was designated for assignment when Giancarlo Stanton was activated from the injured list on Monday.
Once Reyes cleared waivers, he had the choice between going to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre or electing free agency. And he chose free agency.
Reyes is now free to sign with any MLB organization.
At 31 years old, Reyes has one main calling card, his defensive versatility.
This season, Reyes batted .194 in a small-sample size of 31 at bats. He had just a lone double.

Reyes has also played for the Pirates, Brewers, Red Sox and Mets.
In his MLB career, Reyes has played every position on the field besides catcher. He even has five pitching appearances.
This year for the Yankees, he has played second base, third base, left field, right field and gotten on the mound for an inning.
It's not a surprise that the Yankees cleared Reyes off the 40-man roster by DFA'ing him.
Now Reyes will have to see if someone else wants him.
