Yankees GM Brian Cashman comments on quiet offseason so far image

The New York Yankees have had a quiet offseason up to this point. While the teams around them in the American League continue to load up for 2026, the Yankees have had a tough time so far.

The only major moves the Yankees have done so far, is bring back outfielder Trent Grisham, and relief pitcher Ryan Yarborough. Meanwhile their AL East counterparts continue to make moves to improve their respective teams.

GM Brian Cashman was asked about his progress so far this offseason by Bryan Hoch of MLB.com.

“We’re just staying engaged, trying to match up with some things. But it's been tough so far. Don't like the asks coming our way, and I guess the opposing teams don’t like what I'm trying to pull from them on the trade stuff. We do have some conversations that possibly could lead somewhere,” Cashman said.

After two rather loud off-seasons in 2023 and 2024, the Yankees could be in for a different story this time around. Much of the roster is already filled out, and the only major free agent that the Yankees have truly been tied to is Cody Bellinger, who spent the 2025 season in the Bronx already. Nonetheless, the Yankees will look to load up for another run to the postseason in 2026 with a strong offseason.
