The New York Yankees have had a very quiet winter so far. They've not made any big signings or trades, much to the chagrin of Yankees fans.

But, while things have been progressing slowly, their chances for Cody Bellinger haven't gotten any worse this winter.

In fact, according to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, the latest update and consensus from industry experts and insiders has the Yankees bringing Bellinger back on a free agent deal.

"The Yankees are holding firm to their price, not wanting to bid against themselves for Bellinger," Feinsand writes, "though most believe the two sides will ultimately find common ground and come to terms on a deal."

The Yankees are still the top players for Bellinger this winter, despite how slow the market has been moving in recent weeks.

But, even more important than their continued interest is the mention that the Yankees and Bellinger are expected to work out a deal at some point this winter.

The former Los Angeles Dodgers MVP is drawing interest from around the league, reportedly with the Toronto Blue Jays, Los Angeles Angels, New York Mets, and Dodgers all showing some level of interest in the star outfielder.

Even with that interest, the Yankees are still perceived as the favorite to keep Bellinger in New York on a long-term deal.

While there are some other strong contenders for Bellinger, this update from Feinsand indicates that the Yankees are still the favorite.

It's a sigh of relief for Yankees fans for now, as the lack of positive news about Bellinger, or any top free agent, has been a major concern.

The Yankees haven't been spending much at all this winter, and they could be saving their cash for this Bellinger contract. With industry sources believing a reunion is coming, this is a good sign for the Yankees.
