Yankees get bad news on Kyle Tucker free agent pursuit image

The New York Yankees are one of the most active teams every free agency cycle, and they are expected to be active once again. Cody Bellinger and Trent Grisham are re-signing candidates, while the bullpen and starting pitching are big needs for New York.

But if they can't bring back either outfielder, then a potential offer to top free agent Kyle Tucker could be on the table. The Yankees have been linked to Tucker often this offseason, and he could be a great addition to the outfield.

However, during an appearance on MLB Network, Jon Heyman of The New York Post revealed concerning news for Yankees fans who want to sign Tucker. While their chances of getting the four-time All-Star aren't dead yet, they don't look good after this report.

Insider reveals concerning Kyle Tucker Yankees report

"You know, you hear speculation about the New York teams, I don't see that. The New York teams have pretty good right fielders; they have Juan Soto and Aaron Judge. I'm not seeing that."

Tucker is looking to land a $350 million-plus contract this winter, and the Yankees are likely one of a few teams willing to go that high for the superstar outfielder.

But, with Aaron Judge in right field, and the team's effort to extend Bellinger, Tucker might not be a reasonable free agent target for the Yankees.

Heyman's report is bad news for Yankees fans hoping to land Tucker this winter. A Tucker deal with the Yankees or the Mets doesn't look likely at the start of free agency.

The Yankees could shift their offseason plans if Bellinger and Grisham depart in free agency before Tucker signs.

Tucker would be a great pickup, as he's a Gold Glove-winning outfielder with strong offense. In 2025, despite playing through injury in the second half, he finished with a.266 batting average and an.841 OPS in 136 games.

The Yankees are always going to be linked to top free agents and trade targets, but this report from Heyman points to the superstar outfielder going elsewhere.
