The New York Yankees have been in the market for a bunch of different players this winter, and while they've not made any major moves, the market is mostly intact.
After losing Devin Williams and Luke Weaver to the New York Mets, there were questions as to what the Yankees' plan was this winter. Things only got more questionable after the latest Michael King free agency update.
King is signing with the San Diego Padres on a $75 million deal with opt-outs that the Yankees easily could've matched. But, as Jon Heyman of The New York Post reports, the Yankees made a frustrating decision not make any offers to King this winter.
Yankees frustrate fans over Michael King decision
"Yankees made no offer for King in the end," Heyman reported Friday. "Have other targets."
While knowing the Yankees have other free agent targets in the starting rotation, their lack of offer on the table for a pitcher they're familiar with, and could've easily brought back, is a very frustrating update for Yankees fans.
The same situation played out with Luke Weaver, as the Yankees weren't involved in his market either before the reliever signed a deal with the Mets.

While King isn't signing with a rival of the Yankees, he's still going elsewhere on a reasonable contract, one the Yankees could've offered.
But, even if they didn't get King even with an offer on the table, their attempt to make a move would've been met with more positivity. But, because they didn't make any offer, the Yankees fanbase is rightfully frustrated with the front office in New York.
The Yankees do have a few other top starting pitching options in Framber Valdez, Ranger Suarez, Tatsuya Imai, and Zac Gallen. But, as these top-of-the-market arms come off the board, the Yankees' options will dwindle.
