Yankees-Dodgers predicted to connect on trade involving starting pitcher image

The New York Yankees could be looking for more starting pitchers. Perhaps they could find one on the unlikeliest of trade partners: The Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Dodgers have been decimated by injuries to their pitching staff. However, Tyler Glasnow is back, Shohei Ohtani is building up and Blake Snell is on his way back. When they are healthy, their rotation figures to have Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Clayton Kershaw, Glasnow, Snell and Ohtani. They also have Rōki Sasaki and other pitchers who could return off the injured list.

They could look to trade one of their starting pitchers, who has been filling in. FanSided's Jason Reed predicted The Dodgers would trade Dustin May to the Yankees. The Yankees have been without Gerrit Cole all season and have lost Clarke Schmidt as well. When Luis Gil returns, they will have Max Fried, Carlos Rodón and Gil, but there are question marks after that.

Ryan Yarbrough was pitching well before his injury, but the Yankees may not view him, Marcus Stroman, Will Warren or Cam Schlittler as reliable starters in October.

"May is a free agent after this season and the only move the Dodgers may make at the deadline is trading away one of their starting pitchers," wrote Reed. "The New York Yankees should undoubtedly be interested in May, as they could use another arm for a potential World Series push. The Dodgers are known for their spending power, but Andrew Friedman knows when to sell high. Years ago, he traded away Yasiel Puig and Alex Wood for prospects that helped land Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Max Scherzer. Last offseason he sold high on Gavin Lux. It may be time to sell high on May."

May has a 4.73 ERA this season. He has a 3.65 career ERA, but he has missed a lot of time with injuries in his career. He is healthy this year, and can be a solid rotation arm for the Yankees.
