Adam Ottavino's return to the Yankees was brief.

New York used him for two relief appearances against the Diamondbacks last week, then was designated for assignment.

Rather than go to Triple-A, Ottavino chose to elect his release to free agency.

Ottavino's name is always an amusing one when he comes around the Yankees because of his famous Babe Ruth comments.

The right-handed reliever once claimed he would "strike out Babe Ruth every time" if he could travel back in time to face him.

Those comments weren't well received, and Ottavino eventually walked them back a bit.

But maybe the Great Bambino is lingering somewhere, just making sure Ottavino doesn't overstay his welcome in pinstripes.
