The New York Yankees have been eliminated from the 2025 MLB playoffs, which means the offseason is now for the team from the Bronx. The Blue Jays advanced to the ALCS in just four games.

There are a lot of decisions to be made in the Yankees' front office, as several players' contracts are up. Some of those players include Trent Grisham, Paul Goldschmidt, Cody Bellinger (via opt-out), and Devin Williams.

Some players will likely reach a deal with New York, but others are as good as gone due to poor performance.

Yankees predicted to cut ties with Devin Williams

There's no sugar coating it, Devin Williams and the Yankees did not work out this season. Williams had one of his worst seasons as a pro, but it also just wasn't a good fit, as some of his early on struggles in the season led to hesitance in when Williams was used.

In a recent piece by Sports Illustrated, Devin Williams is named as a player the Yankees could move on from this free agency:

"Williams heads into free agency and there's a chance the Yankees don't want him back. New York could opt to let him walk away, but the Yankees could also lose him to a higher bidder."

The Yankees will likely take a few weeks to dissect where the season went wrong, and how they can improve before making some of these decisions.

The expectation is that Williams will probably walk in free agency, unless he settles on a team-friendly deal with the Yankees, because his market isn't that strong.
