Yankees’ Cody Bellinger gets free agency timeline update that involves Kyle Tucker image

The waiting game between the New York Yankees, Cody Bellinger, and Kyle Tucker may be bigger than some are thinking.

Remember now, all of these guys understand that their markets could be impacted by one another.

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, a reunion between the Yankees and Bellinger has felt inevitable, but the timing could hinge on Tucker’s decision.

“A reunion between the Yankees and Bellinger has felt inevitable all offseason, though it’s possible that Bellinger will wait for Tucker to sign before making his own deal, giving him further leverage,” Feinsand wrote

“Some believe Tucker may be one of the few left-handed hitters whose swing is as tailor-made for the Bronx as Bellinger’s was during his first season in pinstripes, though Bellinger’s price tag figures to be lower and he’s already proven he can handle the New York pressure-cooker.”

From Bellinger’s perspective, patience should pay off. If Tucker comes off the board first, especially on a huge deal, it helps Bellinger as the next-best left-handed bat available, especially one already comfortable with Yankee Stadium and the expectations that come with it.

For the Yankees, Tucker would be a nice addition, but the cost will be steep. Bellinger, meanwhile, offers a more familiar option at a likely lower price point.
