New York Yankees rookie Cam Schlittler shone the brightest when he pitched eight scoreless innings to help the Yankees get to the ALDS over the Boston Red Sox in the wildcard series. However, he was not done giving back to the Red Sox. He picked out a comment by a pro-Red Sox fan and betting influencer Lucy Burdge.
Burdge earlier predicted that the Red Sox would win in three games and advance to the ALDS. So, when the opposite happened, Schlittler took a jibe at the influencer, tweeting: "Not this year."
The influencer didn't take the comment lightly. She appeared on the "Baseball Isn't Boring" podcast and declared war on the rookie.
What did Lucy Burdge said about Cam Schlittler?
Lucy Burdge seems to be unhappy with the hit back from Cam Schlittler, who surprisingly hails from Massachusetts. Now, all the betting influencer is waiting for is to pounce on any missteps the rookie has in store in the near future. She admitted she has prepared some tweets already, which she would use when that happens.
"I am going to be eagle-eyed watching this because I have some tweets in the drafts ready to go at Cam Schlittler should, uh, you know, he do anything good or bad?" Burdge said on the Baseball Isn't Boring podcast. "Mostly, you know, bad because now I have a new op, Rob. Cam Schlittler. This is not over, and it's only just begun... This is day one of my war with Cam Schlittler. This is war. This guy can go to hell. Like, get out. You are just a mosquito, but now I'm like, okay, okay. This is war."
In other news, Cam Schlittler said that he received flak from Boston fans before that game. Some of them targeted his family as well. This only motivated the pitcher to come out swinging, and he certainly did so by eliminating the Red Sox with a game-winning 12-strikeout performance.
