The New York Yankees continue to look at many ways to improve, and it’s becoming clear they’re exploring multiple paths.

This front office has made it clear that it wants pitching help, but only if the deal makes sense.

That’s why the Yankees checking in on both Edward Cabrera and Freddy Peralta could be a sign of what’s to come.

Cabrera represents big-time stuff and control. He’s great when healthy, still young, and fits the Yankees’ preference for arms they can mold and turn into even more. The risk is obvious due to the injuries, but if he’s healthy, Cabrera is as good as it gets.

Peralta, on the other hand, is the more proven option. He wouldn’t be a long-term commitment either, which keeps the Yankees in a good spot if it doesn’t work out.

According to The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal, the Yankees are in the mix for both players.

“As reported Sunday by The Athletic, the Yankees are in talks with the Miami Marlins on a trade for right-hander Edward Cabrera and are also in discussions with the Brewers on Peralta,” he wrote.

The Yankees could be checking the market, comparing price tags, and deciding which move would make more sense. Cabrera should and would be cheaper, if I had to guess.

Either way, it doesn’t seem like the Yankees are done, and that’s a positive heading into spring.
