Aaron Judge didn't waste any time.
The New York Yankees' 6-foot-7 superstar entered Sunday one home run behind Yogi Berra on the Yanks' all-time home run list.
He launched one out of the park in the first inning to move right into a tie with Berra.
Judge and Berra now each have 358 home runs in their careers in pinstripes, at least until No. 99 crushes another one sooner rather than later.
These are the four players Judge still has to catch on the list, with their home run total just from their time with the Yankees:
- Babe Ruth - 659
- Mickey Mantle - 536
- Lou Gehrig - 493
- Joe DiMaggio - 361
Berra needed 7,555 at bats to reach his 358 career home runs.
Judge has reached the same total in 4,020 at bats.
He's up to 43 homers on the season, and although his pursuit of .400 ended a while ago, he's still got a good chance to end the season hitting better than .300.
Judge, 33, would likely appreciate getting one thing Yogi has that he doesn't have: a World Series ring.
To be more precise: Berra won 10 World Series rings in his time as a Yankees player.
Judge and the Yankees finally made it back to the Fall Classic last year, but they were defeated by the Dodgers.
The Yankees did enter Sunday with a 12-3 mark in their last 15 games, a good sign as September looms. If Judge keeps homering, that certainly won't hurt the cause.
