The New York Yankees are trying to re-sign Cody Bellinger to a long-term deal after his impressive 2025 season with the club.
But, based on recent reporting, the two sides look heading towards a split. Even though it's not looking great, the Yankees still have an offer on the table and will try to bring him back.
Bob Nightengale of USA Today revealed the Yankees' contract offer for Bellinger. Brian Cashman and company have a $160 million offer on the table as the two sides continue their stare-down.
Yankees in stare-down with Bellinger amid $160M offer
"The Yankees and free agent Cody Bellinger's stare-down continues with one month before spring training," Nightengale reports, "The Yankees have offered a 5-year contract between $155-$160 million without deferrals. Bellinger is seeking at least a 7-year deal."
Bellinger's demands for a new contract have been known for seven years, and this report from Nightengale confirms the demands from Bellinger.
The $160 million offer over five years, with no deferrals, would net Bellinger $32 million per year over the next five years.
If the money isn't an issue for Bellinger, and it's solely the years, then the Yankees would need to give up another $64 million to re-sign Bellinger this winter.

But this stare-down might not just be due to the contract length, as Bellinger might be seeking a higher AAV in his new deal.
As the two sides continue to negotiate, with agent Scott Boras not relinquishing his leverage thanks to interest from teams like the New York Mets, a Bellinger-Yankees reunion isn't going to come easy.
Cashman and the Yankees have a strong offer on the table, and with Bellinger and Boras seeking two extra years, the two sides are at a standstill in contract talks.
