Why does it matter whether Yankees or Blue Jays win AL East?
The winner of the AL East Division will have the best record in the American League. That comes with a bye.
So whichever of the Yankees or Blue Jays finishes on top will not have to play in the Wild Card round of the playoffs and will enter at the ALDS stage.
The top-two seeds get byes (meaning the second-ranked division champion, the Mariners, also get a bye).
A bye might be a different sort of situation to deal with, but the reality is that having to win less games to reach the World Series has to be a good thing.
