The New York Yankees notched their second straight victory Wednesday night, beating the Minnesota Twins behind another big night from Trent Grisham.

Grisham homered twice, once in the third inning and again in the fourth, giving him 32 and 33 on the season. He scored or drove in six of New York’s 10 runs in the 10-5 win.

It marked the second straight game Grisham went deep. On Wednesday, he went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

But the 28 year-old outfielder’s recent stretch has been even more eye-catching. Over his last 50 games, Grisham has tallied 16 extra-base hits — all home runs. He has not recorded a double or triple in that span, making him the first major leaguer since Mickey Mantle in 1958 to hit 15 or more home runs over a 50-game stretch without any other extra-base hits.

Grisham has emerged out of nowhere in 2025, putting together a career year just in time for free agency. Once penciled into the Yankees’ lineup as a defensive specialist, he has climbed to the top of the order and now bats leadoff.

In 134 games, Grisham is hitting .240 with 33 homers, 71 RBIs and 111 hits. His home run total nearly doubles his previous career best of 17, and his 3.6 WAR is also a personal high. It’s also the first time since 2021 he has hit above .200 in a full season.

A two-time Gold Glove winner, Grisham is expected to draw plenty of interest on the open market this offseason.

For now, though, his focus is on helping the Yankees secure the top American League wild-card spot — or even chase down the Toronto Blue Jays for the AL East crown.
