The Kansas City Royals took a step backward in 2025, as the offense never figured things out. The Royals have a great rotation, but if the offense doesn’t figure things out, the Royals likely will struggle again.
They’ll have to find bats, and someone like Miguel Andujar could make sense.
Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report believes the Royals need to add a veteran bat to their lineup, linking the two sides to a potential MLB free agency deal.
“The Royals finished 26th in the majors with 651 runs scored during the 2025 season, undercutting a strong starting rotation and leaving them on the outside looking in when the playoffs arrived. With Isaac Collins and Lane Thomas added to the outfield mix, they could look for a veteran slugger to handle designated hitter duties, rather than relying on Jonathan India and Michael Massey to both occupy spots in the starting lineup,” Reuter wrote.
Once viewed as a core piece with the New York Yankees, his career never went as well as most hoped, as injuries and rough play slowed him a bit. However, Andujar has had some nice moments since.
Kansas City doesn’t need Andujar to be the dude the Yankees wanted, it just needs good at-bats like he’s taken for much of his career.
