The St. Louis Cardinals are one of the teams to watch around Major League Baseball at the trade deadline, and the New York Yankees could be impacted by that.

The Yankees are expected to show interest in multiple players at the deadline, as they have some needs that have to be filled.

Among them is on the mound, and right-hander Erick Fedde of the Cardinals could be a decent option.

In a recent prediction, Zach Pressnell suggested that the Cardinals would cut ties with the right-hander and send him to the Yankees, adding that he could be a consistent starter and a perfect fit for New York.

“The St. Louis Cardinals are in a bit of a tough spot this season. Whether they buy or sell at the deadline, they’re likely to part ways with Erick Fedde in a trade, especially if they can add a big-league hitter in his place. The Yankees could be the perfect landing spot for Fedde for a few reasons,” he wrote.

Depending on what the Cardinals receive in return, moving on from Fedde now should be their plan.

He's set to hit the free agency market at the end of the season, so unless they want to bring the 32-year-old back, which doesn't seem to make much sense, given where this organization is headed, there's truly no reason for him to be on the roster past the deadline.

If the Yankees have the best offer out for him, that's where they need to trade him to.

If not, the Cardinals need to take the best package they can get, regardless of where they send the Las Vegas native.
