The New York Yankees lost in the ALDS to the Toronto Blue Jays and ended another year for the Yankees without a World Series title. But, amid the 2025 season, Aaron Judge put together another ridiculous season at the plate.
In the field, however, it wasn't the same story as old. Judge was dealing with an injury for the second half of the year, which severely impacted his fielding and his ability to make throws, something that was a major talking point as the season wound down.
Now, as the Yankees prepare for the offseason, Aaron Boone revealed whether Judge would need surgery this winter. As Bryan Hoch of MLB.com shared Boone's comments, which were some good news for Yankees fans on Judge's injury.

"Aaron Judge will not need surgery, Aaron Boone said." Hoch writes. As part of his recovery, Boone said of Judge: "He'll take some time off and continue to do strengthening things and rehab stuff."

This update from Boone is a good sign for Judge. After dealing with a right flexor strain that impacted his throwing ability from the outfield, the recovery this winter won't include surgery.
Hearing that Judge, arguably the best player in baseball, does not need offseason surgery is a great sign for the Yankees. Allowing Judge to rest and recover, and be ready for Spring Training, is a sigh of relief after the injury derailed Judge's season.

Of course, Judge still came back and was an elite player, but he was impacted by the injury enough to see a dip in production, mainly in the outfield.
The 33-year-old will be heading into his 11th MLB season, and 11th in New York. He's coming off another remarkable season, in which he led the American League in runs scored with 137, walks with 124, and led all of baseball in batting average (.331), on-base percentage (.457), slugging percentage (.688), and OPS (1.144).
The seven-time All-Star doesn't need surgery, putting Judge in line to be healthy at the start of Spring Training. After some injury concerns this season, this is some great news for Judge and the Yankees, as Judge's injury can heal in time for the 2026 season.
