It'll be interesting to see which teams around Major League Baseball have an interest in landing Pete Alonso of the New York Mets.
Alonso is expected to be one of the top players on the free agency market, perhaps the best hitter outside of Kyle Tucker.
With the Mets also expected to still be in the mix for Alonso, there's a good chance he could return to New York.
Can Reds land Mets' Pete Alonso?
However, others believe he might depart, and if he does, Gordon Wittenmyer of the Cincinnati Inquirer wants him to be in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Reds have proven over the past few years that they can be a competent team if things go as planned and they add above-average players like Alonso to the mix.
“And this: They need to make a run at Pete Alonso when the Mets’ slugging first baseman becomes a free agent after this season (assuming hometown slugger Kyle Schwarber returns to the Phillies before hitting the market, as expected).
“It’s time for Castellini ownership to put some of that revenue-sharing money they’ve been pocketing where their mouth has been for the past two-plus seasons talking about wanting to win,” he wrote.

As Wittenmyer touched on, there are questions about whether teams like the Reds would give Alonso the type of money he's looking for.
Not because Alonso isn't a great player and one of the better power hitters in baseball, but because Cincinnati hasn't exactly spent plenty of money on players in the past.
The Mets will have to hope that'll be the case for a few different teams, so they can keep him for a cheap price.
