The New York Mets' biggest weakness is in centerfield.

One of the guys that tried to fill that role in 2025 was Tyrone Taylor.

Taylor will be back in 2026 to try and help out there again.

On Friday, when the Mets could've chose to non-tender Taylor, they instead got a deal done with him. MLB.com's Mark Feinsand reports Taylor has signed for $3.8 million to play the 2026 season in Queens.

Taylor will turn 32 years old in January.

He's a long time removed from his days as a top-100 prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers, but Taylor has enough tools that he's stuck around, including a throwing arm that is usually good for a couple of highlights a season.

In 2025, Taylor's second season with the Mets, he was worth 1.0 Wins Above Replacement. He was a 2.0 WAR player in 2024.

This past season, Taylor batted.223 with 18 doubles, three triples, two home runs and 12 steals in 113 games. His OPS was.598. That tells you how good he was defensively, because he was a well-below-average hitter and still had a positive WAR.

In his career, Taylor has a.706 OPS. He's a better hitter against lefties at this point.

The Mets will likely try to bring in someone in front of Taylor to win the centerfield job, but now they know they've got some depth out there with a player who is familiar to them.
