The New York Mets haven't landed one of the top free agents this winter, but they have made some key moves, like trading for Marcus Semien and adding Jorge Polanco to the infield.

They aren't done yet, and adding an outfielder, including one of Kyle Tucker or Cody Bellinger, is still in the cards for the Mets this winter.

According to Will Sammon of The Athletic, the Mets have an offer on the table for Tucker, and it's not a cheap one. Tucker reportedly has a deal worth upwards of $140 million on the table from the Mets.

Mets have $140M offer to Tucker on table

"If the New York Mets are in the range of offering $120 million to $140 million for over three years to free-agent outfielder Kyle Tucker, as league sources on Tuesday suggested is the case, the question is whether that will be enough," Sammon writes.

The Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers are both strongly in Tucker's market, but the Mets' offer is the first concrete evidence of an offer for Tucker.

This $140 million offer over at least three years would be an interesting one for the Chicago Cubs free agent superstar outfielder.

Three years at $120 million would be a huge $40 million per year. But, adding $20 million to that total without adding another year would make Tucker earn potentially $46 million per season.

Sammon reports it's an offer of over three years, and with the reported offer being $140 million, it would be hard to believe the Mets offered five for $140, with the most likely offer being four years for $140.

It's a $35 million per-year offer for Tucker. While it's a strong deal, it's hard to believe the Mets would be able to beat the Blue Jays if they offer a much longer deal worth a close deal in AAV.

While the Mets are showing serious interest in Tucker by making this offer, the Mets are clearly not wanting to go for a long-term deal, instead settling for a higher AAV, short-term contract offer.

The soon-to-be 29-year-old outfielder is the best player left on the free agent market, and the Mets are trying to bring him to New York on a $120 to $140 million deal over three years.

It's an interesting offer, and one to keep in mind as more free-agent rumors come in with Tucker this winter.
