Triple-A is not the major leagues.

But the New York Mets are believers in what Jose Rojas did this past season in the International League.

Rojas led the IL with 32 home runs, and he's now the newest member of the Mets' organization.

New York signed Rojas on Monday, according to MLB.com's Anthony DiComo:

"IF/OF Jose Rojas has agreed to terms with the Mets on a minor league deal, per source, and will receive an invite to MLB camp. If added to the roster, he will earn $820K pro-rated."

Rojas is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound left-handed hitter who has played 83 games in the major leagues.

At the MLB level, Rojas is a.188 hitter and has six home runs.

There have always been hitters who are successful at Triple-A but not so much in the majors. There are various names for them, like Quad-A hitters or 4-A hitters.

Rojas may very well be one of those.

The Mets aren't necessarily counting on him to be a key contributor to the MLB team. He might spend most of the year at Triple-A Syracuse, trying to lead the IL in homers once again.

But sometimes a hitter uncovers something new and puts it to good use.

The Mets believe in Rojas enough to bring him to camp and see what he's got. It'll be up to Rojas to prove just how much he belongs.
