Rumors have indicated over the past few months that teams around Major League Baseball have called the Pittsburgh Pirates, attempting to trade for Paul Skenes.

To put things as frankly as possible, the Pirates have absolutely no reason to move on from the right-hander. He's clearly one of the top arms in Major League Baseball, if not the best, and is only 23 years old. That's without factoring in that he doesn't hit arbitration until 2027 and isn't a free agent until 2030.

However, that hasn't stopped many from stating that teams like the New York Mets could be potential Landing spots for him.

Could Paul Skenes land with the Mets soon?

When examining Skenes’ future in Pittsburgh, Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report went so far as to say that he could see him wanting to play for the Mets.

"He's going to be arbitration-eligible in 2027, at which time he's going to start getting expensive for the eternally penny-pinching Nutting. And with young, cost-controlled talent representing the only hope the Bucs have of contending, the prospect of a Herschel Walker trade may only become more and more alluring.

"For his part, anywhere would be better than Pittsburgh if Skenes values winning games and raising his profile. The New York Yankees are unsurprisingly interested, and one can just as easily imagine him ending up with the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets, Boston Red Sox or Chicago Cubs," Rymer wrote.

There are several factors to consider regarding Skenes, and it's only fair to wonder if his girlfriend, Olivia Dunne, who has amassed a massive social media following, could have any influence on his future landing spot.

Considering her large following and the deals she’s acquired, she could be interested in being in a major city like New York. For the Mets and New York Yankees’ sake, that's a positive.

Regardless, however, it’ll likely come down to where Skenes wants to be.

For now, this is all just a pipe dream until the future.
