Recent New York Mets first-round pick Kevin Parada was finally promoted to Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.
The 24-year-old catcher was selected 11th overall in the 2022 Draft and steadily rose through the Mets’ farm system—that is, until he hit Double-A.
Parada spent the entirety of the 2024 season with Binghamton and languished, slashing .214/.304/.359 over 114 games. But after a resurgent 2025 season, New York has decided to promote him.

Parada heading to Triple-A
Parada’s numbers were up across the board this season with Binghamton, but he particularly excelled in August with a .304 batting average, two home runs and 12 RBI.
That prompted his call-up, and with it, a new question: When will he make his Major League debut?
The Mets’ catchers are far from spectacular. Francisco Alvarez has dealt with injuries and slumps, while Luis Torrens and Hayden Senger haven’t been impressive as backups.
Here’s how Joe Najarian of Sports Illustrated puts it:
“Considering Parada’s only modest numbers this year in Double-A before getting the call, it would be foolish to call him up to the big leagues with minimal time in Triple-A,” he writes. “But considering he is younger than both Torrens and Senger, while also having much higher offensive upside, it may make sense to consider him as a backup option in 2026 if he proves himself in Syracuse.”
Parada will also have to clean up his play behind the plate if he wants to make The Show anytime soon. He’s allowed 73 stolen bases in 89 attempts this season, and in 2024, he caught only 26 runners in 115 attempts.
But Parada’s improvement at the plate earned him his promotion to Triple-A, where he’ll have to prove he’s ready for a call-up to MLB.
