Juan Soto of the New York Mets is quietly having one of the more underrated seasons in Major League Baseball. Despite signing the biggest contract in Major League Baseball history, Soto has done nothing but play well.
Ultimately, while some Mets fans may have been hoping for a higher batting average, batting average isn’t meaningful anymore. He has put up great numbers, including 37 home runs, 27 stolen bases, 114 walks, and 91 RBIs.
There's a very good chance he's going to have a 40/30 season, including 125-plus walks.
Mets' Juan Soto talks about his 2025 season
That would be an excellent season for any player in Major League Baseball history.
Despite that, critics have been loud, but that's what happens when a player is on a team like the Mets.
New York has no time for players not playing at the level they want them to, so Soto has heard all of the fans.
When speaking with Jon Heyman of the New York Post, he even admitted that he's heard the critics, and he also agrees with them in some sense.
“I’m with them. I feel like I’m capable to do more stuff,” Soto told The Post. “It’s not bad. But I think I can do better.”

Considering Soto is one of the better hitters in Major League Baseball history, at least on the trajectory, it's not unfair to suggest that he can be even better.
Even better would be about 50-plus home runs, 130-plus RBIs, and perhaps fewer strikeouts for his regard.
