The New York Mets could make some changes to their rotation as some pitchers are starting to get healthier.
The Mets lost Frankie Montas and Sean Manaea to injuries during spring training, but both are closing in on a return to the majors. Both are currently on their rehab assignment, and as the two starters are looking to return, the Mets will have a decision to make with their rotation.
According to Major League Baseball insider Mark W. Sanchez of the New York Post believes Griffin Canning will likely be the odd man out.
“If Megill, who can be optioned to Triple-A Syracuse, gets booted for Montas, the arm most likely to go for Manaea would be Canning, who cannot be optioned,” Sanchez wrote.

Canning could be moved to the bullpen, or could be traded. Ahead of the return of Montas and Manaea, Canning wasn’t thinking about his future.
“It’s out of my control,” Canning said. “It’s been super fun being a part of this team. We all just want to win. So I think whatever they think is best. I think we’ll just cross that bridge when we get there.”
Canning signed a one-year, $4.25 million deal with the Mets this offseason to add depth to the rotation. However, the right-hander has exceeded expectations as he’s 6-2 with a 3.22 ERA in 13 starts this season.
The Mets are currently 45-24 and atop the NL East.
