It has not been an offseason to remember for the Minnesota Twins and their fanbase. They have not done much in terms of bringing in a ton of free agents to help them perform in 2026.
Their biggest free-agent addition came when they signed Josh Bell to a one-year deal back in December. However, they have made quite a haul in terms of waiver signings and trades. They acquired Eric Orze in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays, Eric Wagaman in a trade with the Miami Marlins, and claimed Vidal Brujn off waivers.
But that is not enough for a team that largely depends on often-injured players staying healthy. They need to do more, and with the free agent options dwindling. They are starting to run out of time.

Twins come to terms with Victor Caratini to help strengthen backstop depth
One area of need Minnesota needed help with was its catching depth. While they have Ryan Jeffers as the primary catcher, they did not have a clear backup option until today.
According to Fansided's Robert Murray, the Twins have come to terms with Victor Caratini on a two-year contract.
Caratini is coming off a season where he served as the Houston Astros backup catcher, while also playing first base and being used as a designated hitter. Across 114 games last season, he hit.259/.324/.404 with a career-high 12 home runs and a career-high 46 runs batted in.
Minnesota is not just getting a backup catcher in Caratini. They are also getting someone who can play multiple positions with a solid bat to back that up. It is surprising that Caratini lasted this long in free agency, but Minnesota definitely improved with this addition, and the fanbase should be able to breathe a bit easier now.
