Jackson Chourio injury update: Latest news on Brewers star's hamstring injury suffered in Game 1 of NLDS vs. Cubs image

The Milwaukee Brewers secured the No. 1 seed in the National League, earning a first-round bye in the playoffs. Their Divisional Series matchup brought a familiar foe: the Chicago Cubs.

Game 1 took place on Saturday, October 4, and Milwaukee wasted no time jumping on Chicago’s pitching staff. Star outfielder Jackson Chourio made history by becoming the first player ever to record three hits in the first two innings of a postseason game. His day, however, was cut short when he exited early with a hamstring injury.

Here are the latest updates on Jackson Chourio's hamstring injury suffered in Game 1 of the NLDS against the Cubs.

Jackson Chourio injury update

Chourio had a single, double and three RBI in the first inning of Game 1 of the NLDS. He came back up in the second inning and hit a grounder to third. The Cubs third baseman fielded it deep in the hole and tried to fire a ball to first base but it ended up hopping on its way there. Chourio sprinted down the line, but while he was running, suffered a hamstring injury that caused him to be pulled from the game.

The concern is that hamstring strains are easily aggravated. Manager Pat Murphy told the TBS broadcast that the injury was the same hamstring that had sidelined Chourio for much of August, and that worried the team. He suffered the original injury on July 29 when he was legging out a triple. It landed him on the IL, and he wasn't activated until August 30. There's a chance that this hamstring injury could sideline the young star for not only the rest of the NLDS, but the majority of the playoffs if it is as severe.
