Brewers sign 2 new pitchers to free agent contracts image

The Milwaukee Brewers added some pitching depth with two new free agent signings.

On Wednesday, the Brewers announced the signings of right-handed pitcher Gerson Garabito and left-handed pitcher Drew Rom.

MLB.com's Adam McCalvy reports that both deals are minor-league contracts with invites to big league spring training.

Garabito is a 30-year old righty who left the states in June to go pitch in Korea.

In 15 starts in the KBO for the Samsung Lions, Garabito had a 2.64 ERA.

Garabito has thrown 34.1 innings at the MLB level for the Texas Rangers across the 2024-25 seasons, putting up a 5.77 ERA.

Rom just turned 26 on Monday and will return to the NL Central after a previous stint with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The southpaw was a fourth-round pick originally by the Orioles, then moved to the Cardinals in the Jack Flaherty trade.

Rom had an 8.02 ERA for the Cardinals in the 2023 season, then had shoulder surgery in 2024.

He struggled at Triple-A Memphis in 2025, and the Brewers will be hoping that as Rom gets further removed from his shoulder injury that he'll return closer to his younger form.

The Brewers had the best regular season record in baseball in 2025 but were swept in the NLCS by the Dodgers. Milwaukee will continue to look for ways to improve its roster top to bottom to try and do better than that this season.
