The Milwaukee Brewers are in complete control of their NLDS series against the Chicago Cubs. They hold a 2-0 lead, as the series shifts back to Chicago, but the Brew Crew has a loaded arsenal of pitching depth they can go to.
It was a big decision for the coaching staff to decide on how rookie phenom Jacob Misiorowski would be used in the playoffs.
They opted to use him as a bullpen option, and he didn't make his postseason debut until game two on Monday, but he showed why he can be a real threat out of the pen.
Brandon Woodruff has high praise for Jacob Misiorowski
Following the Brewers' game two victory, Brandon Woodruff spoke with FanSided's Robert Murray about Misiorowski:
“People don’t move like that dude. He’s like an alien. He’s like an Avatar. He’s an anomaly," Woodruff said.
“When his first pitch is 104 … come on man. Grab that thing and let’s go. When he learns how to really harness it, which tonight he was filling it up pretty good. But once he learns the command side of it, watch out.”
Misiorowski is still working on his command, as walks have been an issue with his recent outings, but his stuff is flat-out dominant and, at times, completely unhittable. If the Brewers do advance, it will be interesting to see how manager Pat Murphy continues to use him.
In 66 innings pitched during the regular season, Misiorowski struck out 87 batters as a rookie over 14 starts. As mentioned, walks can be an issue. He issued 31 walks in those 66 innings.
