The Los Angeles Dodgers are currently 40-28, clinging on to a half-game lead over the San Francisco Giants for first place in the National League West.
Despite having an absurd 14 pitchers on the injured list, the Dodgers have still been a top team in Major League Baseball.
It’s no secret that Shohei Ohtani is a unicorn. A guy who can hit 40-plus home runs and win the Cy Young award in the same season is mindboggling.
Even though he hasn’t pitched since Aug. 23, 2023, his bat is still one of the best in MLB.
For that reason, Bleacher Report ranked him No. 2 on their franchise cornerstone list.
Ohtani, 30, is a three-time Most Valuable Player and is the front runner to win his fourth MVP award this season.

Ohtani is only behind Judge on Bleacher Report’s list, but if he was pitching, he would easily be No. 1.
“But it feels like we’ve been waiting on Ohtani to resume pitching for about as long as we’ve been waiting for GTA6 to come out,” wrote Kerry Miller. “He’s the 1B to Judge’s 1A if we’re only talking about non-pitching production.”
In 66 games, Ohtani has 23 home runs and 39 RBI while slashing .292/.386/.625.
In 926 career games, Ohtani has 955 hits, 248 home runs and 606 RBI with a career slash line of .282/.372/.578.
