The Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies are battling it out in the 2025 NLDS. Two of the National League’s powerhouses met Saturday night for Game 1 of the series.

Philadelphia plated three runs in the third inning off Shohei Ohtani, but Los Angeles clawed two back in the sixth. Then, the Dodgers took advantage when the Phillies had to turn to their bullpen. With runners on first and second and two outs against left-hander Matt Strahm, Teoscar Hernández took a ball before depositing a 91 mph fastball down the middle 394 feet into the right-center stands to give the Dodgers a 5-3 lead. Los Angeles then turned to its bullpen, which held on for the 5-3 victory.

Teoscar Hernandez contract details

Hernandez was a free agent following the 2024 season. There was a thought that he may test the market, but he ended up re-signing with the Dodgers on a three-year deal worth $66 million. It included a $23 million signing bonus and, like all baseball contracts, is fully guaranteed. The deal also included a club option for 2028.
