Ohtani's wife was a hooper. She played professionally in the Women's Japan Basketball League until 2023.
Tanaka is 5-foot-11, and she was a power forward during her basketball career.

Ohtani announced in December 2024 that Tanaka was expecting. They gave birth to a baby girl in April 2025.
"I am so grateful to my loving wife who gave birth to our healthy beautiful daughter," Ohtani wrote on Instagram after the birth. "To my daughter, thank you for making us very nervous yet super anxious parents."
Given the parental duo's athletic prowess and height, the little Ohtani baby could one day be a star in whatever she wants to do.
