Dodgers' Will Smith continues improbable World Series streak for his name image

In the end, it was a good thing the Los Angeles Dodgers had Will Smith on their side.

That name is the World Series cheat code in recent years.

Smith took matters into his own hands Saturday night in World Series Game 7 in Toronto.

In the top of the 11th, he launched a towering fly ball up and gone to left field for a lead that the Dodgers wouldn't relinquish.

L.A. Was repeat world champions.

And with it, a wild streak was extended.

A guy named Will Smith has now won the World Series in each of the past six seasons.

The catching Smith was there in 2020 when the Dodgers won the World Series.

Each of the next three seasons, the lefty reliever Will Smith stepped in.

The southpaw Smith won in 2021 with the Braves, 2022 with the Astros and 2023 with the Rangers. That's quite the individual run of switching teams and still winning.

And then in 2024, it was the catching Smith back with the Dodgers for another title.

And here the catcher is again, delivering as a slugger to add another ring to his hand.

Smith is one of the more underrated Dodgers. He's one of the top catchers in baseball but isn't flashy or dominant in the way some of his teammates are.

He just gets the job done day in and day out.

And in the 11th inning of Game 7, Smith proved he could be a superhero, too.

World Series updates continue.
