Miguel Rojas is in his second stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers. He's currently in his fourth year with the Blue Crew after signing a one-year, $5 million extension for the 2025 season.
Rojas has been a leader in the clubhouse and provides the Dodgers with some infield depth and versatility. During the regular season, he has played five different positions, including four games on the mound.
However, his future with the club is up in the air. He will become a free agent when the season comes to an end, and he would love to stick with the Dodgers, given his recent announcement.
Dodgers' veteran planning on retiring following the 2026 season
According to Doug McCain of Dodgers Nation, Miguel Rojas plans to retire after the 2026 season. He spoke about his decision and his desire to stay in Los Angeles for one final season.
"It's been a wild ride," Rojas said. "I've given it everything that I have every single night for the four years that I've been here. And hopefully I can finish my career here next year. Because I'm going to retire after next year."
Given that Rojas would not need a monster contract for his final season, it would not be surprising to see the Dodgers swing another one-year deal for the veteran slugger. He has been a huge help to this club both on the field and in the locker room.
If Rojas does retire after the 2026 season, that would mark 13 seasons in the major leagues. It would be quite a career for a player who was signed by the Cincinnati Reds as an amateur free agent from Venezuela in 2006.
