Tyler Glasnow shot his shot, and now he's married.
Not a bad turn of events for the former Tampa Bay Rays pitcher who is now a World Series champion with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The 6-foot-8 fireballer was pitching for the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021 when he noticed a woman in the stands and took a chance.
This is how Glasnow explained the story to the Los Angeles Times:
"I saw a girl who was kind of cute, so I had our team photographer zoom in on her. This just sounds very weird, but she was wholesome, with a girl-next-door look. So, I wrote my phone number on a ball, threw it to her, and told her to text me. She came to the next game, threw me a ball with her number, and told me to text her. I didn’t think anything would come of it, but then I met her, and she was awesome. She has a really good personality, loves to travel, and is really fun, so it’s super easy.”
Glasnow says that's the only time he ever pulled that baseball with his phone number trick, and he figures that the woman, Megan Murphy, probably doesn't believe that.
All's well that ends well. The couple just got married.
Good thing Glasnow was pitching for the Rays at the time.
Given Tampa Bay's notoriously poor attendance, it probably wasn't hard to spot a particular individual in the stands.
And now he's got his lifelong biggest fan.
