Dodgers, Twins complete trade sending 28-year-old hurler to Minnesota image

The Los Angeles Dodgers officially said goodbye to a former member of their 2025 pitching staff on Monday.

Twenty-eight-year-old Noah Davis spent most of the season in the minors for LA, after he was acquired in a trade with the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations on Opening Day. But just before the All-Star break, Davis found himself designated for assignment.

That wasn't entirely surprising, as Davis had a 19.50 ERA in his five appearances for the Dodgers at the major league level. But evidently, Davis wasn't likely to clear waivers and return to Triple-A for the Dodgers, because he got traded instead.

On Monday, Davis was officially traded to the Minnesota Twins for cash considerations. He will report to Triple-A St. Paul, and he has a spot on the Twins' 40-man roster.

Phil Miller of the Star Tribune originally reported the news of the trade via X (formerly Twitter).

Davis has good stuff, but it hasn't yet translated to success at the major league level. In 23 total outings for the Dodgers and Colorado Rockies, he has an 8.95 ERA in 57 1/3 innings, striking out 51 batters, walking 28, and allowing 87 hits.

This is nothing more than a case of good old-fashioned 40-man roster turnover for the Dodgers, but every once in a blue moon, these trades come back to haunt teams when the players involved suddenly find success with their new organizations.

The chances are slim that Davis could become one of those players, but not zero.
