The idea of the Los Angeles Dodgers landing Tarik Skubal would be tough to swallow for most fans, but there’s also reason to believe that it’s possible, depending on what the trade pitch would be.

Mark Powell of FanSided proposed a deal that would send the Detroit Tigers’ ace to Los Angeles in exchange for a massive prospect package.

Dodgers receive: Skubal
Tigers receive: Emmet Sheehan, Alex Freeland, Zachary Root, Patrick Copen

“Is that a lot? Absolutely. Is it less than the Tigers would've demanded from the Dodgers a month ago? Also yes! In Sheehan, the Tigers receive a plug-and-play option for their starting rotation. Freeland is a top-100 prospect who isn't far away from the major leagues, and can fill a third base void for the Tigers. Root and Copen fill out organizational depth in the minors and could contribute in Detroit as soon as next season,” he wrote.

Skubal is one of the best pitchers in baseball and would give the Dodgers yet another ace. Pairing him with Los Angeles’ existing arms would just be unfair for the rest of baseball.

For Detroit, the proposal could be something it is interested in, though it’s fair to mention that it likely wants Zyhir Hope. Emmet Sheehan would be a nice addition, as he’s shown to have great stuff in recent years.

Whether the Tigers would actually entertain such a deal remains questionable, as they might think they can compete this season.
