The Los Angeles Dodgers did OK for themselves in this trade.
News emerged earlier on Monday that they were trading speedy outfielder Esteury Ruiz to the Miami Marlins.
Now we know the return.
The Dodgers will be getting the right-handed pitcher Adriano Marrero in return, according to MLB insider Francys Romero.
MORE: Team USA's projected WBC lineup is incredible
Marrero is an 18-year old pitcher from Cuba.
The Marlins signed him in January for a $350,000 signing bonus.
He threw 33 innings in the Dominican Summer League after signing, and he struck out 35 batters.
It's an intriguing return for a guy in Ruiz that the Dodgers really didn't need.
Ruiz had 67 stolen bases at the MLB level for the Athletics in 2023. But in the past few seasons, he's been pretty much a non-factor in the majors.
Marrero, of course, is a heck of a long way away from the big leagues.
But the Dodgers have all the talent they need at the upper levels. This is a chance for them to get a talented player early in his career and develop him.
In a few years, we may look back and recognize what a great job the Dodgers did on this one.
