The NL West's two biggest rivals could be looking at a big free agency battle.

The Los Angeles Dodgers, fresh off a World Series repeat, are predicted to battle with the San Francisco Giants for a major bat.

Kyle Tucker, widely projected to get the largest contract this offseason, has hit the open market from the Chicago Cubs.

ESPN's David Schoenfield named two fits for Tucker: the Dodgers and the Giants.

Schoenfield named the Dodgers the best fit for a player he said is worth $400 million.

"Could the Dodgers absorb another huge contract? Well, why not? The Dodgers are the best fit of "will spend money" and "have need," considering they got nothing from left field in 2025 and suddenly have concerns about Mookie Betts' long-term impact at the plate after his subpar (for him) season," Schoenfield writes.

He goes on to list the Giants as "another possible fit," the only other team named.

"The Giants, of course, have been trying to land an elite offensive player in free agency forever -- finally trading for Rafael Devers last June," Schoenfield writes. "Giants corner outfielders hit just.237/.309/.378 with 37 home runs and 12 stolen bases, so adding Tucker to the lineup would give them a much-needed second lefty power hitter (with rookie slugger Bryce Eldridge likely to take over at first base, too)."

The Giants always find themselves in these kind of negotiations. There was some belief that they almost landed Aaron Judge a couple seasons ago.

They don't normally get their man, though. And the Dodgers usually do.

If this is the competition here, it could be key to the future of the NL West.
