The Los Angeles Dodgers endured their first loss in the MLB playoffs on Wednesday night with an 8-2 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies. The Dodgers do still have a 2-1 lead in the series, but a big announcement was made about top reliever Tanner Scott.

Tanner Scott has had an up-and-down season, but he's essentially lost the closer role for the Dodgers. On Wednesday night, manager Dave Roberts gave a major update on Tanner Scott.

Dodgers' Tanner Scott is away from the team

According to manager Dave Roberts, Tanner Scott has been away from the team due to personal reasons.

There was no reason given why, but the hope among all those who cover the Dodgers is that he is okay, and his family is also okay.

The Dodgers will suit up against the Phillies again on Thursday with hopes of advancing to the NLCS. Tyler Glasnow will get the start for Los Angeles, and Philadelphia's starter will be Christopher Sanchez for the second time this series.

Roberts said that new details will emerge here shortly, but that is the reason why he was not available in tonight's loss.

Tanner Scott has a 4.74 ERA this season in 57 innings, 23 saves, and 60 strikeouts. He has not been used recently as frequently as Roberts opted to use him earlier in the season, but there could be an underlying reason.
