Dodgers make big Clayton Kershaw announcement in return from injury image

Clayton Kershaw's return is coming soon.

The 37-year old Los Angeles Dodgers legend has yet to pitch this season after offseason knee and toe surgery.

Kershaw pondered retirement before returning to L.A. On a one-year deal. His 2024 was also injury-plagued after shoulder surgery.

But soon, Kershaw will be back on a mound.

Dodgers manager Dave Roberts told reporters on Friday that Kershaw is about to begin a rehab assignment.

Kershaw's first rehab start will come on Wednesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City.

The lefty threw a bullpen session at Nationals Park on Monday. When he spoke to reporters that day, he said the toe injury was the biggest thing limiting his comeback.

Kershaw will likely need a full spring training of sorts on his rehab before coming back to the bigs full time, given that he hasn't been stretched out since midway through last season.

The superstar is just 32 strikeouts away from 3,000 for his career.

The Dodgers also have Tony Gonsolin rehabbing at Oklahoma City. He has made two starts as he attempts to come back from injury, too.
